Zone Overview

Corbett's Newest Jungle Safari Zone

To keep pace with growing tourist demand and reduce the disappointment of sold-out safari seats, the Corbett administration opened the Ringora / Garjia Safari Zone for jeep safaris starting in November. Until then, Corbett's tourism zones were limited to Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Durga Devi, Sitabani and Pakhro — Garjia is the newest addition to that list.

Garjia is a picturesque, densely forested part of Jim Corbett National Park, enriched with a wide variety of floral and faunal species. In terms of safari experience, it gives serious competition to the legendary Dhikala zone — cool, calm, and considered one of the most tiger-rich areas of the entire park.

The zone is entered through Ringora Gate, about 9 km from Ramnagar city, and comprises buffer, tourism and core areas. Entry is deliberately limited to a small number of vehicles per shift, keeping the natural habitat undisturbed and every safari feel exclusive.

Visitor Tips

Making the Most of Your Garjia Safari

1

Book your seat well in advance — being a newly opened zone, jeep permits are limited and fill up fast in peak season.

2

Choose a full-day safari if possible — it gives you the best chance of covering more ground and spotting a wider range of wildlife.

3

Arrive at Ringora Gate on time — morning and evening shifts have strict last-entry cut-offs that vary by season.

4

Consider an overnight stay at Garjia or Malani Forest Rest House for early access to the core zone at first light.

5

Carry basics for the jungle — water, a light jacket for early mornings, binoculars and a fully charged camera.

6

Keep noise to a minimum inside the core zone — Garjia's tiger sightings are best enjoyed with patience and quiet.
